About
SÉRIE SUBTRACTIVE
We used to work in "additive" mode: more lights, more elements, more material. A never-ending cycle, a machine that always demanded more.
With the Subtractive Series, we chose the opposite.
Using a new technique — a liquid electrochromic crystal film applied to large glass panels — we can finally work in "subtractive" mode. Removing rather than adding. Making room for silence, for the surrounding environment, for the viewer and their imagination.
Sunlight becomes our main material. A way of stepping back from the culture of excess that has taken over contemporary creative practice.
Our works modulate light and transparency across glass façades — veiling and unveiling, concealing more than they reveal. Presence and absence, memory dissolving and resurfacing.

Encor Studio · Switzerland
Encor Studio was founded in 2016 by Swiss audiovisual artists Mirko Eremita, David Houncheringer, Manuel Oberholzer and Valerio Spoletini. Experimenting with kinetic sculptures, architecture, installations and sound visualization, often challenging their limitations, Encor Studio puts a strong emphasis on twisting the audience's perception. In its recent development, the studio focuses on a more reductionist approach, favoring in situ materials and energetic efficiency, as a statement against homogeneity.
